What will the next chapter of CLC’s ministry look like?
Perhaps it will be a Burmese believer receiving a Bible amid civil war. Or a child in India opening God’s Word for the first time. Or a Kenyan author being equipped to write for a new generation.
For 85 years, CLC has invested in projects that strengthen ministry for future generations. Today, CLC operates 123 bookshops and 18 warehouses in 43 countries, publishes thousands of books in 23 languages and develops publishing and distribution ministries that help make Christ known around the world.
As we celebrate God’s faithfulness over these many years, we are also looking ahead. Four projects in particular are helping prepare CLC for the next decade of ministry and opening new doors for the Gospel.
The Myanmar Bible Project, under the leadership of National Director Jacob Mung, will publish 20,000 copies of the Bible in Burmese. Plans are being finalised for printing later this year. In a nation facing great uncertainty, many are searching for hope and stability in God’s Word. Additional funds are still needed for shipping costs from our printer in South Korea so that these Bibles can reach those who need them most.
The Children’s Bibles Project is another investment in the next generation. Already, more than 25,000 Children’s Bibles have been published and distributed in various countries. In partnership with Tyndale Publishing, over 20,000 additional copies will be printed this summer. We pray that many young lives will be shaped by the truth of Scripture.
In Kenya, where the project is being overseen by National Director Mercy Omukhango, a new well is providing fresh water, and the foundation of the CLC Kenya Ministry Centre has been completed. This faith project will provide a permanent base for ministry, support the growing publishing work in Africa and serve as a writers’ retreat where African authors can be mentored and encouraged. Around £42,400 (US$57,000) is still needed to complete the next phase.
In Chennai, construction continues on the new CLC–ELS India Building Project. This four-storey facility will provide space for a large bookshop, offices, a conference room and expanded ministry activities. Approximately £118,000 (US$159,000) is still needed to complete the next phase of the project and position the work for continued growth and impact.
Behind each of these projects are real people—children, pastors, readers, authors and families whose lives may be transformed by God’s Word.
As the Psalmist reminds us: “One generation will declare your works to the next and will proclaim your mighty acts” (Psalm 145:4, CSB).
